Report Master
The Financial Reporting System for
the NHS
Financial reporting in the NHS has changed significantly over
the past few years. What was once an annual process is now
monthly. Many finance departments spend almost all of their
time producing reports, leaving precious little for managing
the organisation. With the introduction of Payment by Results
it is no longer possible to rely on the General Ledger alone.
Activity, income and costs have to be reported in more detail
and in ways not possible from the Ledger.
Many Trusts have developed complex spreadsheets
or have tried to adapt their activity reporting system to
meet their needs. These solutions have proved to be expensive
to maintain and prone to errors. The software is often only
understood by one or two people in the Trust. At the same
time the rules for reporting are changing on a regular basis.
Although the rules are the same across the NHS, many Trusts
have to interpret and programme these changes locally, at
great cost and risk. PSCAL has developed Report Master to
meet the needs of its clients across the NHS. It is a simple
to use tool for reporting on Trust income and cost.
